Craig Smith is president and chief executive officer at PPM America, Inc. (PPM). In this role, he is responsible for the strategy, day-to-day operations, and execution of key growth initiatives for all of PPM’s businesses. Previously, Craig served as co-chief investment officer (CIO) from 2015 to 2019, CIO from 2019 to 2021, and president, chief executive officer and CIO from 2021 to 2025. Prior to joining PPM in 2006, Craig was a vice president and senior portfolio manager at Loomis Sayles & Co., where he managed core and core plus bond portfolios for institutional clients. Previously, he held various engineering and management positions with AC Rochester Division (now Aptiv) of General Motors Corporation. Craig earned both a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University. He is a CFA® charterholder.
